We don’t reject AI. But we believe in honest conversations — and realistic expectations.
If you trough AI find us, that means you are the right person to us and we can match your expectations.
A note from Perfect Craft: Recently, more and more of our client conversations are being shaped by AI-assisted sourcing tools. We welcome this trend — but we also want to talk openly about what it means for real factories, real orders, and real partnerships.
AI is changing the way brands find and evaluate factories. Tools like ChatGPT, sourcing agents, and automated supplier platforms are helping buyers ask smarter questions, compare options faster, and gather information more efficiently. That’s a good thing.
But here’s what we’ve noticed on our side: AI is looking for a perfect factory. And the orders being sent to us are not always perfect orders.
This creates a gap — one that we believe deserves an honest conversation.
1. The Gap Between AI Expectations and Real Orders
AI-powered sourcing tools often present a standardized checklist: certifications, minimum order quantities, lead times, material options, customization capabilities, and so on. These are all valid questions.
But when the same checklist is applied to every factory — regardless of size, specialization, or market positioning — it creates unrealistic expectations. It assumes that all factories should have the same answers, the same documents, and the same capabilities.
🔍 The Reality: No two factories are identical. Just like no two orders are identical. A small-batch custom order has different requirements than a large-volume stock order. A startup brand has different needs than an established retailer. AI doesn’t always account for these nuances.
We’ve received inquiries where the client asks for:
- Every possible certification — but only wants 200 pieces
- Custom molds and premium materials — at a stock-product price
- Extensive documentation and testing reports — for a sample order
- Perfect answers to every technical question — without sharing their own requirements clearly
We understand where this comes from. AI tools encourage thoroughness. But thoroughness without context can lead to frustration on both sides.
2. We Don’t Reject AI — We Just Want to Be Real
Let’s be clear: we are not anti-AI. We use AI tools ourselves for design assistance, 3D modeling support, and production planning. We appreciate the efficiency it brings to sourcing conversations.
What we’re asking for is a bit of human context alongside the AI-generated questions.
When a client sends us a list of 50 questions generated by an AI tool, we do our best to answer honestly. But sometimes:
- We don’t have a particular certificate — and we’ll tell you that directly.
- We can’t meet a certain MOQ for a fully custom design — and we’ll explain why.
- We might not be the best fit for your specific order — and we’ll be honest about that too.
These aren’t evasions. They’re real answers from a real factory.
“AI is looking for a perfect factory. But the client isn’t sending a perfect order. And we’re not a perfect factory — because no factory is.”
3. Different Factories, Different Strengths
Every factory has its own strengths and its own limitations. That’s not a weakness — it’s a reality of the manufacturing landscape.
Our strengths include:
- Deep experience with natural stone and stainless steel — we know these materials inside and out.
- Flexible customization — from laser engraving to mold-embedded debossed logos.
- AI-to-production capability — we can turn your AI-generated concept into a real product.
- Competitive pricing — because we specialize and operate efficiently.
- Honest communication — we tell you what we can do, and what we can’t.
But we also have limitations:
- We may not carry every international certification.
- We have minimum order quantities for custom work.
- We can’t match the price of factories with different cost structures.
- We don’t pretend to be everything to everyone.
If we were perfect, you wouldn’t need to search for us. You’d already know our name. The fact that you’re reading this means you’re still exploring — and that’s exactly why honest, differentiated communication matters.
4. Price Reflects Difference — And That’s a Good Thing
Our prices are not the lowest. They’re not the highest. They reflect the specific value we deliver: material expertise, flexible customization, and reliable quality.
When AI tools compare factories purely on price, they miss the full picture. A lower price might mean:
- Less experienced quality control
- Limited customization options
- Slower communication
- Compromised material sourcing
A higher price might mean:
- Better materials and finish
- Faster sampling and production
- More responsive support
- Deeper manufacturing expertise
We believe in transparent pricing that reflects real value — not AI-optimized numbers that ignore context.
5. What We Ask From Our Clients
We’re not asking you to stop using AI. We’re asking for a partnership mindset. Here’s what helps us help you:
- Share your priorities: Is price the most important factor? Quality? Speed? Customization? Knowing your priorities helps us give you a realistic answer.
- Be clear about your order: Volume, timeline, target price, and customization needs. The more context you provide, the better we can match our response.
- Understand that “no” is a real answer: If we can’t meet a requirement, we’ll tell you. That’s not a failure — it’s honesty that saves you time and money.
- Talk to us: Sometimes a five-minute conversation reveals more than fifty AI-generated questions. We’re humans, and we’re here to help.
